Working really hard now on the new collection for Trinkets Etcetera. Working really hard now mainly because I am feeling bad for not being to make it to MAAD tonight :-( I was looking at all the photos of the event posted by MAAD crew on Facebook but I am not there.. so sad.. I was looking sooo forward to having fun tonight but sigh… unexpected things do happen at the time when you want them not to happen, don’t they?

Anyway… look on the bright side girl – there is 1st June MAAD event at Red Dot Traffic to look forward to isn’t it? I will be bringing my pretty wares to the event – make sure that you don’t miss it too!

I have been away from creative work for way tooooo long.. I have been making so many excuses haha – so busy with work, too busy with exercising, too busy with kids, and too busy with catching up on korean dramas and ogling at the Hallyu stars…ahhha…

Now it’s time for me to get back into action – creating my new range of accessories to be time for our next event at MAAD – red dot museum on the 4th May 2012.

Sneak peak of our new range :-) . This time round, I enclosed pretty butterflies, swarvoski crystals, flowers together with some beautiful messages in a locket. I loved the designs and I am sure you will too! See you at MAAD!

Full time work for the past 6 months had taken up so much of my time and energy that I left clutter to accumulate in my room – making it quite unbearable for my family. Stacks of bank statements, piles of old magazines, my craft tools and craft materials strewn all over my work station. The clutter did kill my creativity and increased my stress levels – I haven’t made any art piece that I really liked since Feb MAAD.

My resolution was to de-clutter my room after I finished off my full time employment contract. I want my life and creativity back! It took 1 full day to organize my room and work station. Now I am back in business! :-)  You will see me back in Red Dot selling my wares in April – May.

This is my version of 3 tips to de-clutter your life.

1) Simplify – Purge your life or room of unwanted things – have a garage sale, send your pre-loved items to salvation army or donate to 慈济。

2) Simplify – Organize your remaining belongings by sorting them out and keeping them in different boxes/ baskets labelled by their purposes.

3) Keep Simplifying – De-cluttering is not a 1 off exercise, it has to be maintained. Make it a habit to clean up your room/ workstation of unwanted things at least once a month.

And some of my creations!

MAAD Pyjamas @ Red Dot Museum – 10th February 2012

I have been looking so soooo  forward to MAAD Pyjamas as I have missed the last event in January. It was a great pleasure to meet old and new faces, see new creations by my fellow handicraft artists at the event.

This time round, I chose to set up my stall within the museum gallery. On my left was my new friend Doris-  she makes pretty and delicate accessories. On my right, was another new friend Hock Heng, a design and technology teacher who designs greeting cards (Local Cards). The humorous local flavored messages on his cards left HUGE smiles on the visitors’ faces.

I was so pleasantly surprised to see my dear friend Phoebe (Eggyimp) and her daughter and son setting up their stall very close to mine.  The 2 little fellas are so cute, they always make the long night more enjoyable with their endless banter and sweet gestures.

TCS crew came to film the event for a local variety show 乐活好正点 (“LOHAS” in english) which airs every friday 8pm on Channel U.  This was 1 of the highlights of the evening, everyone was so excited to see MAAD Pyjamas and some of our handicraft artists get into the limelight. The event filming will get aired in 1 of the March’s 乐活好正点。

The evening went pretty quietly so I spent a good amount of time meeting up with new friends including Audrey who’s nifty fingers make very very pretty cheongsams (The girl’s kaksh), Jasmine from Gift Wrapsody also dropped by to say hi. Final but not least I had my usual cup of home made gelato :-) yummy!

Theses are some pictures of a custom order which I received from this lovely lady Jonica.

I am looking forward to the next event on 9th March 2012 MAAD Pyjamas, see you all there!

This is going to be a super year 2012 for us!

We ended 2011 with a couple of great parties with family and friends. We greeted 2012 with more parties! What is most memorable for me of 2011 is that it is during this year that I made the tough decision of leaving the corporate world to stay at home to be with the kids. It is during this year too that I started Trinkets Etcetera – my little handmade accessories business. The year ended well with a couple of orders for custom made accessories.

2 custom orders worth mentioning – 2 message charm bracelets custom made for members of the SS501 fan club :-) . My friend is a die hard fan of the club, she wanted to wear something that is subtle and yet show her passion for the K-pop group. :-)

With Chinese new year around the corner, January is a going to be a very busy month. We will back at the MAAD bazaar in February 2012. See you there!

MAAD @ Red Dot 9th December 5pm to midnight

It was slightly drizzling when we started to set up our stores, but that didn’t dampen our high spirits nor did it spoil the shoppers’ shopping mood. MAAD at Red Dot Museum has been a big highlight for me each month since I started shopping there for creative finds and selling my handmade accessories at the event. It’s great to be able to find new friends with similar interests and passion here.

I set up my stall next to pretty Ada’s stall. She and her friend does great illustrations on cards, stress cushions, key chains and badges. Her stall is really very popular with the young and hip crowd.  Joyce from Chic Noir dropped by at my stall for a chat, she is always making everyone feel at ease with her smile and small chats. It’s wonderful to know her. I love the fabric flowers that she made, they are so pretty.

Later in the evening, I had a wonderful surprise as my newly wedded sister and brother in law dropped by to provide support.  It’s great to have them there, so that I can sneaked out to shop around a little at the bazaar heehee.. I managed to get some yummy home made ice-cream and 2 pretty t-shirts.

I am looking forward to the next event in January 2012 already! :-)

YWCA X’mas bazaar at Fort Canning Lodge 10th December

The crowd at the X’mas bazaar is quite different from those that we met at MAAD. The main crowd were families with children, while MAAD had working folks who dropped by after office hours. My little family cluster is with me at the event. My son and daughter were very happy to help me to set up the stall. Considering their young age, they were quite organized!

What a hectic weekend! It was great fun and I am certainly looking forward to the next bazaars!

It has been a very busy month – juggling between full time work, keeping the kids happy and making new wares for the next MAAD event at Red Dot Museum.  This time round for the MAAD event on 11.11.11,  I will focus on my range of accessories with inspirational messages – Pearls of Wisdom – pendants, rings, bracelets, hair pins and rings.

There will be special 1+1 = $11 deals. My fellow Maadsters who will be showcasing their handmade stuff at the bazaar, will also be having special promotions. So see you there at Red Dot Museum on 11 November 2011 5pm-late.
